Biology: Its colour varies depending on where it is found. Blue, brown and white specimens can be found. At adult size, its sting is intense.
This jellyfish is reputed to have defeated the US Navy! In 2006, there were so many jellyfish in Brisbane harbour that they clogged the cooling system of the nuclear aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan, putting it out of action and forcing an emergency evacuation.
